IP Access Control Systems

IP access control systems have revolutionised the access control industry as analogue systems have migrated to networked solutions. Unlike traditional access control systems, which use numerous protocols to communicate with each device, IP-based systems send all signals between the server and reader via the internet protocol (IP).

The widespread adoption by manufacturers of open platforms means that access control systems can integrate ever-more readily with other security systems, such as CCTV and intrusion detection. IP-based systems are also cheaper and easier to scale up if you need to add more doors or access points at a later date.

Card, fob and – increasingly – smartphone-held credentials can be read in myriad ways, including through RFID (radio-frequency identification), bluetooth or biometric markers such as fingerprint, iris or facial recognition.
