The client had noticed a growing number of employees ditching their car and cycling to work each day. Employees that drove found the daily commute to work extremely stressful in the heavy London traffic, parking was difficult and coupled to the Congestion Charge was expensive and a significant number of employees looked to cycling as a more appealing mode of transport.
With English weather being what it is, employees frequently have to contend with wet (and snowy) conditions. Employees that were cycling to work in wet weather, would change out of their wet cycling gear and leave their garments hanging over a chair in the office, hoping they’d be dry at the end of the day. The damp clothes were causing unwanted smells in the office and discord amongst workers. As one can imagine, the drying conditions were less than ideal and on many occasions cyclists were having to change back into their damp, cold cycling clothes for the journey home.
Keen to encourage more employees to cycle to work, the client explored their options to improve
the onsite office facilities. Central to this was providing a system to dry wet cycling gear. Taking to
the web, the client searched for different drying options. They came across Podab’s range of drying
cabinets and made contact instantly.
Firstly, Podab’s Business Development Director, Andrew Lambert, visited the client’s facility to
measure up the space available and understand the number of garments required to dry each day.
Having undertaken a full site survey, Andrew recommended the client implementing the Podab
TS 63 E Drying Cabinet.
The Podab TS 63 E has a very short drying time of 42 minutes and is equipped with a Humidity Tracking
System (HTS); which senses the humidity level and stops the drying process when the garments are dry.
The level of energy consumption is extremely low; ideal for the client who was keen to keep energy
costs down.
The feature which sold the whole system to the
client was its ability to dry the most delicate of
garments without ruining them – lycra cycling
tops for example.
Two months later, the client has already seen an increase in the number of employees cycling to
work. They’re able to change out of their damp cycling gear and put them in the drying cabinet,
knowing they’ll be dry within less than an hour ready for their journey home at the end of the day.
