Scheduling within the Field Service Management sector is incredibly complex. Today, schedulers are used to plan multiple field engineers’ days, sending them an updated diary plan the night before so that they are aware of their day ahead. However, such is the nature of field service, that as soon as the day actually begins, the service desk staff are inundated with same-day change requests, delays, overruns on jobs, traffic issues, emergency customer requests, etc.

In order to deal with these continuous same-day issues being logged at the service desk, staff usually spend the majority of their time rescheduling field engineers’ diaries and playing the ‘middle man’ to keep the customer informed.
