A-SAFE in Prime Position to Supply Fast-Growing Refrigerated Warehousing Sector

8 Aug 2016

The refrigerated warehousing sector will grow by 14% before 2020, estimates business analyst Technavio.

Demand for state-of-the-art cold storage facilities is expected to surge as customer consumption in processed food products and perishable dairy items grows.

New vendors are expected to emerge who will embrace rapid developments in refrigerated warehousing, such as non-slip floors, specially insulated walls and fast-opening industrial doors.

Environmental focus will also be a key part of the future cold chain concept, with energy-saving storage and green logistics becoming ever more prevalent.

A-SAFE already supply freezer grade polymer safety barriers to the cold storage sectors. The barriers function in temperatures as low as -40°C and are hygiene-focused, with no ingress points where dirt or debris can infiltrate the cold store logistics trail

The barriers also provide many benefits to complement and protect the demands of the cold storage environment.

Floors

Resin floors will be integral to the cold logistics future, where hygiene plays an important role. They are anti-slip, hard-wearing and jet-washable, but resin floors can also be expensive.

A-SAFE’s innovative cold store barrier range flexes on impact from a forklift truck and absorbs the impact forces through its material (MemaplexTM) and interior design. This prevents damaging energy from traveling into the fixings and ripping out the barrier from the floor.

In turn, that expensive resin floor remains unspoilt and undamaged.

Walls

Speciality cold storage walls often require exceptional insulation for maximum facility performance and optimised energy consumption. As such they need to be protected.

A-SAFE’s collection of wall protection barriers will prevent forklifts and moving equipment from damaging expensive interior and exterior walls. From robust Traffic Barriers to space-saving Kerb Barriers, A-SAFE’s freezer grade wall protection will future proof the vital structures in a cold storage facility.

Industrial Doors

Rapid growth in industrial door installation will be a major factor of the cold storage boom. High-speed doors that open and close quickly ensure warehouse temperature remains constant.

A-SAFE Bollards will highlight the costly high-speed doors so forklift drivers can clearly see them. Height Restrictors installed around the doors will manage traffic flow and ensure any impacts are absorbed by the barrier, rather than being inflicted on to the frames of the expensive door.

Green Angle

With environmental concerns becoming a major factor of procurement in cold storage, A-SAFE’s polymer barriers offer a 450% improved carbon footprint over a five-year period against traditional steel.

Hygiene

A focus on hygiene is essential to food cold storage and every part of the logistics trail should play its part.

A-SAFE’s ultra-low maintenance barriers are wipe-clean, non-corrosive and scratch-resistant. They also are without ingress points where dirt, dust or debris can collect – a huge, innovative boost for hygiene-sensitive environments.

Conveyors, Dock Equipment, Charging Stations etc.

Protecting ever more expensive machinery inside a cold storage facility is essential.
