Lone worker experts Peoplesafe will be joined by a trio of guest speakers at the Safety and Health Expo, where they will share their health and safety experiences.

Visitors to Peoplesafe’s stand will be able to hear real life stories from safety practitioners from the utilities, housing and surveying industries, who will discuss why they turned to the lone worker experts to protect their employees.

Chris Lunn, head of health, safety and quality at South East Water; Denise Williams, head of housing operations at Blackpool Coastal Housing; and Sarah Haigh, quality, health, safety and environment manager at e.surv Chartered Surveyors will join the stand at the Expo, which runs from 21 to 23 June at ExCeL in London.

South East Water provides fresh drinking water to over two million people in Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire. Chris will discuss types of lone workers and the hazards they encounter, and share South East Water’s health and safety journey - which includes turning to Peoplesafe to issue Identicom 877 personal safety devices to their staff.

They recently renewed their contract and invested in phone applications, which are able to send alert calls to Peoplesafe’s monitoring centre and use GPS to keep track of employee location. The apps also allow users to check in and out of meetings, and provide ‘man down’ assistance should an emergency occur. Chris, who has overall responsibility for South East Water’s health and safety strategy and advises the Board and Executive of legal requirements and compliance, said: “We take staff safety very seriously and as a large proportion of our workforce are regularly out and about on their own, we need devices and technology we can trust.

“Peoplesafe’s systems have ensured that our staff not only feel safe, but they also feel valued, as they know we care about their wellbeing and help is just a button push or phone tap away.”

As well as listening to Chris’s experiences, visitors to the Peoplesafe stand can also hear Denise Williams of Blackpool Coastal Housing discuss the key elements of effective lone worker safety implementation, including the importance of early staff consultation and management buy-in and support. Sarah Haigh of e.surv will also share the ways in which the organisation looks after its lone workers and their implementation journey.

Peoplesafe, who are attending the Expo for the sixth time, will also be showcasing their products and providing advice. They are one of the UK’s leading providers of simple and lightweight equipment, monitoring services and safety training, aimed at keeping employees as safe as possible.

Managing director Ian Johannessen said: “All three of the organisations sharing their stories at our stand are responsible employers who realise the importance of protecting their staff. We’re looking forward to meeting lots of new faces at the Expo, and sharing the ways in which employers can look after their lone workers in the best way possible.”

Peoplesafe has its headquarters in South Yorkshire and provides an NSI Gold accredited service - the highest possible industry recognition. Its clients span the public, private and third sector and include a range of major retailers, housing associations, facilities management companies, charities and house builders.

Peoplesafe will be at stand M1900 at the Safety and Health Expo, which also features keynote speeches from Colonel Tim Collins OBE, Kate Adie OBE and James Cracknell OBE.
