Confined Space Entry Kit

20 Feb 2018

a1-cbiss have designed a confined space kit which includes the products required to safely enter a confined space to perform gas detection or set up a rescue operation

The aluminium IKAR Rescue Tripod is lightweight and features adjustable legs for use on uneven surfaces. IKAR Rescue Tripods are fully conformant to EN795B for work and rescue purposes.

Unlike many complicated rescue tripod kits the DB-A2 is designed to aid rapid assembly of a complete confined space entry system. The tripod is supplied with a leg mounted bracket assembly and a pulley Wheel complete with karabiner, allowing the IKAR HRA Fall Arrest and Recovery Device to be used.

The IKAR Rescue Tripod is suitable for a maximum of 2 users or 1 person and a load winch to 250Kg SWL. IKAR Rescue Tripods are adjustable in height from 1.44m to 2.42m. This allows the set up diameter of the legs to range from 0.99m to 1.55m, thus providing greater flexibility when working over variable entrance diameters.

The total weight of this confined space tripod is just 19kg making it possible for a single operative to move and construct.

The supplied IKAR Fall Arrest Block with an integral recovery mechanism (HRA) is supplied as part of the confined space kit at 18m but available at up to 42m lengths. The block features a steel rope lifeline in an aluminium housing, conforms to current standards EN360:2002 and EN1496

The aluminium housed HRA fall arrest block is a sturdy, low maintenance device, the steel rope lifeline is terminated with a steel double action hook for connections to the operatives harness. The fall arrest block can also be mounted in a hanging position via the open steel handle, suitable for connection via a Standard Karabiner type connector, or a Standard Karabiner type connector with an Anchorage Sling, or a Large Karabiner.

The steel rope lifeline in IKAR fall arrest blocks has been tested with a simulated fall over an edge and passed the German draft amendment EN360. However, not all "edges" will react in the same way as the tested steel edge, so when using this fall arrest block, every effort must be made to ensure that in the event of an arrested fall, the lifeline does not pass over an edge.

The IKAR two-point safety harness with overhead rescue attachment is tested to EN1497:2007. The attachment point has been tested additionally to the requirements of EN361:2002, so when used with the HRA device mounted onto a tripod for confined space work, the overhead attachment point is guaranteed to be suitable and appropriate for use.

The PS200 multi-gas detector is bought as a diffusion model as part of the Confined Space Kit. The PS200 simultaneously monitors up to four gases, including Oxygen (O2), Combustibles (LEL), Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) and Carbon Monoxide (CO)

The ELSA Escape Set is simple and quick to operate, reliable and robust in use, ensuring maximum protection in an escape situation. The Scott Safety ELSA (Emergency Life Support Apparatus) is renowned as the world's leading Constant flow escape set designed for rapid escape confined spaces.
