London's Air Ambulance

London’s Air Ambulance is a charity and provides doctor-led prehospital advanced trauma care to the 10.5 million people, who live, work and commute within London and has treated over 38,000 patients since 1989.

Using a helicopter by day and rapid response cars by night, our trauma team bring the hospital emergency department to the roadside within minutes of injury.
We have played a vital role in all major incidents in London over the past 29 years, including the 7/7 bombings (where the charity dispatched 18 medical teams helping to triage and treat over 700 patients), the London Bridge terror attack and the Grenfell Tower fire. We were also the first on scene at the Westminster terror attack.

London’s Air Ambulance delivers a world-leading service and works to continuously improve processes, techniques and performance which will ultimately provide benefits to the patient’s quality of outcome. Our innovations in trauma care, medical systems and training have been emulated worldwide.

We were the first air ambulance service in the UK to:
- Provide a 24/7 service, carrying a doctor on-board at all times
- Carry blood on board
- Safely perform the following medical procedures on scene: Thoracotomy, Thoracostomy, Resuscitative Endovasvular Balloon Occlusion of the Aorta (REBOA), Rapid SequenceIntubation and delivery of anaesthesia
