The Calico Group supports some of the most vulnerable people in our society in a number of areas – from providing safe refuge accommodation to victims of domestic violence to developing new, affordable housing for future generations.
As a Group, they care about their 600-strong workforce just as much as they care about the people who rely on their services, and so they were looking for a solution that would keep their employees safe while they were working alone. They wanted to find a solution that their teams felt comfortable using; in January 2020, they asked a selection of lone workers from across the Group to join the health and safety team in assessing a range of solutions from different providers.
The Fire Services must overcome many obstacles when responding to an emergency. From the moment a member of the public calls 999, to a fire appliance arriving at the scene of the incident – seconds count, and being as operationally effective is vital. Communication should not be an obstacle but many fire services experience difficulties when mobilising their staff using old fashioned SMS services.

Peoplesafe CEO Appointed Chair of BSIA Lone Working Group
The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) has appointed Naz Dossa, Chief Executive of lone worker technology specialists Peoplesafe, as Chair of the Lone Working Group. The group focuses on the key issues surrounding the safety of the six million workers in the UK who already operate in isolation for some or all of their role. Changes to working practices in response to the Covid-19 pandemic mean many more people will now be required to work alone or without direct supervision, creating additional challenges and health and safety requirements for organisations, from safeguarding and risk assessment to personal safety technology. The working group will continue to ensure a coherent industry-wide approach to the guidance and issues surrounding this vital area.
SureCam and Peoplesafe have entered into a strategic partnership to develop an industry-first lone worker service that better protects drivers in and out of the vehicle. This will also provide additional evidence should any matter progress to court.
