Secured by
Design (SBD) is the national police crime prevention initiative with the
principle aim of delivering a wide range of crime prevention activities across
the UK.
We work in partnership with the Home Office, Ministry of Housing, Communities
& Local Government, manufacturers, trade and business organisations,
testing houses, certification bodies and standards authorities and many others,
to produce a range of world-renowned design guides aimed at reducing crime.
Our
extensive activities in this area generates demand for security rated products
and for this reason we created a product based police accreditation scheme some
20 years ago. To date we have more than 800 SBD member companies producing a
significant variety of crime prevention products across a wide range of
industry sectors.
SBD
represents a powerful, trusted police brand which inspires greater public
confidence in products. Membership with us is the only way for companies to
obtain police accreditation for such products in the UK.
