RoSPA's supporters, members, award winners, friends and staff enjoyed a royal tea party in the glorious gardens of Buckingham Palace as it continued its year of 100th birthday celebrations.

The sun was shining on 3,500 guests last Thursday (May 25), as HRH The Duke of York and HRH Princess Eugenie of York hosted RoSPA’s Centenary Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.

The safety charity’s supporters, members, award winners, friends and staff enjoyed a royal tea party in the glorious weather as it continued its year of 100th birthday celebrations.

The Duke and Princess, who were attending on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen, RoSPA’s Patron, met and spoke to a variety of guests, including accident victims and their families, who shared their stories of the importance of accident prevention in all aspects of daily life – in the workplace, in the home, on the road and at leisure

Errol Taylor, RoSPA’s acting chief executive, said: “Everyone who attended the garden party had such a wonderful day. It surpassed all expectations, and the sun shone brightly all day.

“We were delighted to share such a special occasion with our many guests, and in particular HRH The Duke of York and HRH Princess Eugenie, to whom we were able to demonstrate our important and extensive work through those they met.

“We want to thank all of those who attended, and the many other friends of RoSPA from around the world, as it is because of them that we can continue working to save lives and reduce injuries.”

The garden party was the pinnacle of RoSPA’s ongoing centenary celebrations, which include a special exhibition at the Library of Birmingham, showcasing 100 years of accident prevention and including many of RoSPA’s iconic and historical workplace safety posters.
