We’ve worked with the Tate Britain art gallery in London and manufactured six Torpedo Triple XL Recycling Bins.
The gallery have ordered three of our extra large units, and three of our flat hooded units with rubberised grip mats to be sited in their staff canteens.
We spoke with Bella Soreno, Resource Manager at Tate Britain about their previous litter strategy and what prompted them to implement these new triple Torpedo units.
“We had separate bins for general waste, recycling and food waste. Although our staff do try to recycle, they were using the nearest bin to them regardless of the waste stream. We quite often suffered with contamination, resulting in a lot of our mixed recycling being treated as general waste. Also staff were keen to recycle coffee cups but we found large quantities of liquid within the recycling.”
In June last year, we exhibited at the Facilities Show at the Excel in London and met with customers both old and new – including Bella.
She explained: “We found Wybone at a trade show with a very impressive stand. I met Mark who was very passionate and knowledgeable on the product. The range of products was really impressive and it’s great that they are designed and manufactured in the UK, reducing our carbon footprint.”
We worked closely with the gallery to fully understand their design requirements and to create a recycling unit that would be suitable for their busy staff canteens. Wherever possible we will work with our customers and make bespoke modifications to satisfy their individual needs.
“Mark visited our site on a few occasions and I felt that it was vital to get an understanding of the type of organisation we are and how the bins would best work. We advised him on the type of waste we have and the space we could accommodate for the bins. It was a real stress free process.”
We suggested the Torpedo Triple XL Recycling Bin, an extra large recycling unit with three compartments separated by dividers to prevent cross contamination. As this unit is to be placed in their staff canteens, we also recommended the Torpedo Tray Unit, which features a flat hooded top with a rubberised grip mat for the collection and storage of food trays.
