Following the success of their previous campaigns including #DriveDownLitter and #BringBackHeavyMetal, Hubbub have launched a new recycling scheme based in Leeds City Centre.
The #LeedsByExample campaign aims to improve ‘on the go recycling’ by implementing new bins and recycling initiatives around Leeds City Centre. The campaign will run for six months in partnership with Leeds City Council and aims to bring together key organisations to increase recycling.
Hubbub have found that because of our busy schedules, we’re eating and drinking more on the go, which adds up to around 13 billion plastic bottles, 9 billion drinks and 2.5 billion coffee cups every year. They also found that 1/3 of people are uncertain about what sort of packaging can and can’t be recycled.
Organisations who opt to take part in #LeedsByExample will benefit from discounted recycling bins and collection services. Hubbub will also be arranging free communication materials to help increase recycling rates by using consistent, simple recycling messages across the city and participation will be subsidised by the campaign’s collaboration of funds.
A huge part of their campaign is to encourage coffee cup recycling – disposable cups can be recycled but need to be put in their own bins. We’ve designed our Eco Cup Recycling Bin in bright orange with Hubbub’s bespoke branding on the body and sloped display board to ensure they are used efficiently.
Hubbub have collaborated with big industry names, such as a such as a Caffe Nero, Costa Coffee, McDonald’s, Pret and Starbucks, as well as implementing these bins into local organisations, universities, council offices and shopping centres.
We’re supporting this great initiative by offering substantial discounts to Leeds-based businesses on our most popular recycling bins. Customers will be able to buy our Eco Cup Recycling Unit and our popular Swing Top Litter & Recycling Bins to improve their internal recycling efforts; they will also receive bespoke ‘Leeds By Example’ artwork to promote the campaign.
We’ve worked with Hubbub on several campaigns, designing and manufacturing bespoke versions on our products to suit their campaign branding. Last year, we adapted our flagship Barnsley Bin to feature a novel football net on the top. These bins were designed as part of their #LoveWhereYouPlay campaign with McDonalds, to encourage children and adults to dispose of their litter correctly on match days.
We have also worked on a similar campaign with the Trafford Council and Amey partnership, One Trafford. We designed the MV/35C Triple Recycling Bin, with three separate compartments for litter and recycling. These recycling bins were designed to tackle ‘recycling on the go’ across Manchester.
